Is Valve Coming Up With A New Gadget?

It has long been assumed that gaming giant Valve is working on new hardware following the successful launch of its handheld gaming computer Steam Deck, but recent developments confirm this speculation.

South Korea's National Radio Research Agency recently certified a "low power wireless device" with the code "RC-V1V-1030" from Valve, as spotted by YouTuber Brad Lynch through Arca.live.

While no other details were revealed, the research agency indicated that the device uses 5HGz Wi-Fi, which is standard for most gaming devices. 

Previous Valve devices have also shared similar code numbers, with Steam Deck labeled 1010 and Steam Index known as 1007.

The device has yet to be certified in other regions.

Lynch pointed out in the same thread that Meta's upcoming Quest 3 headset had only received certification months ago, which could indicate that more details could arrive in the following weeks.

Switch 2 Demoed at Gamescon

While information on Valve's next device remains limited, a new development from its competitor Nintendo may indicate that a Switch 2 is coming. 

According to a report from Eurogamer, the gaming giant showcased tests of the Switch successor to developers during Gamescon last month.

Additionally, one of the games demoed in the new device includes a "souped up" version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

What the demo entails remains unclear, how they differ from the current Switch models, and whether Nintendo's next-gen device will still be called a Switch.

However, Eurogamer emphasized that Nintendo's next big drop will come as soon as next year. 

In the meantime, franchise fans can enjoy upcoming Switch games like WarioWare, as well as the much-awaited Super Mario Bros. Wonder - with a new Mario-themed OLED Switch to match.
