DC Studios has officially unveiled the much-awaited teaser trailer for "Superman," directed by the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy director, James Gunn.
Released on Thursday, the teaser boasted a two-minute and 20-second runtime, packed with vibrant action and new characters left and right sure to please fans of the iconic superhero franchise.
Immediately grabbing the spotlight is Krypto, Superman's trusty dog and sidekick — a character never before seen in a live-action film adaptation.
Meanwhile, a day before the release, showcasing a completely different set of visuals, a dramatic video playing on the famous line "Look up... it's Superman!" announced the release of the trailer, further increasing the hype.
The official teaser trailer starts off with the cinematic crash-landing of an injured Superman, played by David Corenswet, into a vast land of ice.
After glimpses of his daily life as Clark Kent, Krypto comes to his rescue after a barely audible whistle from the Man of Steel.
Viewers then get vignettes of Superman in action, together with some popular superheroes and villains like Lex Luthor, Angela Spica a.k.a. "The Engineer," Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, and Mister Terrific.
Of course, Superman's romance with Lois Lane, now played by "House of Cards" actress Rachel Brosnahan, was highlighted in both teaser videos.
Superman won't be complete without its legendary theme song, and the trailer showcased the new version from British composer John Murphy, who is known for his works in "The Perfect Score," "Miami Vice," "Sunshine," and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."

The last standalone Superman movie was released over 10 years ago in 2013, with Henry Cavill playing the title role, reprising it for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Justice League," which premiered in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
Because it has been years since Superman graced the big screen, it's natural that anticipation and expectations are high — and so far, the new film seems to be meeting them.
As of writing this article, less than 24 hours since the drop, the trailer has already garnered over 22.5 million views on DC's YouTube channel and 2.1 million on IGN's channel.

Additionally, Gunn's post of the trailer on his X account has already been viewed over 15 million times, with about 295,000 likes, 73,000 shares, and 11,000 comments.
These figures are proof of the considerable interest in the new film, which sparked a lot of discussion among online fanbases and social media platforms.
Teased across socials, DC's rollout for the Superman teaser trailer is a prime example of how proper brand marketing strategies can generate anticipation and start conversations among audiences.
The Internet Has Spoken
A lot is at stake for DC with this high-profile movie franchise as it ushers in the studio's new era.
Marking the first film under Gunn's reign in DC, it could make or break the future of the comic book film production studio, depending on how well it will be received.
Luckily, fans' initial reactions to the teaser show promise.
"This is straight up a comic book come to life. Superman nation, we won," one fan wrote on X.

Meanwhile, others praised the teaser's colors, direction, and lack of comedic relief.
Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult (who plays Lex Luthor) were also praised for their appearance and how fitting they were to their respective roles.
"Superman" is set to hit the theaters next year on July 11.
Fans can expect to see more marketing campaigns and promotions, including brand collaborations as the premiere date nears.
For instance, as anticipation was running high for the release of "Deadpool & Wolverine" earlier this year, the superheroes were featured in numerous brand campaigns, including Heineken, Heinz, and Tim Hortons.
Still basking on the movie's success, which grossed $1.32 billion globally, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Kidpool recruited Wonder Woman in an unofficial Marvel and DC crossover to help raise funds for SickKids Foundation this holiday season.
