Wildfires across Los Angeles County have devastated communities, destroying over 10,000 structures and burning more than 35,000 acres.
With insured losses estimated at $20 billion and total economic damage nearing $50 billion, this could become the most expensive wildfire disaster in California’s history.
Firefighters are battling multiple blazes, including the Palisades Fire, which alone has damaged over 5,300 structures, and the Eaton Fire, which has destroyed 5,000 more.

Over 1,500 residents remain in shelters, while more than 200,000 are under evacuation warnings. Nearly 95,000 homes are still without power as thick smoke blankets the city.
With firefighters making incremental progress and businesses stepping up to aid recovery, California’s wildfires showcase the urgency of collective action in the face of natural disasters.
A solid crisis communication strategy has played a key role in guiding evacuations, supporting relief efforts, and helping communities stay strong during this tough time.
While containment efforts continue, rebuilding communities and addressing the broader challenges of climate resilience will require long-term collaboration between public and private sectors.
A fantastic example of this would be the World Wildlife Fund's Olympic campaign, which highlighted climate records.
