Ask web developers how they build complex and innovative sites quickly while staying within budget, and their answer will be no-code/low-code development.
It makes developers’ lives easier because they don’t have to write each line of code and not to mention that it also allows non-developers to create websites on their own.
This is why in the 55th episode of the DesignRush Podcast, we got Gali Erez from Wix to dive into the burgeoning world of no-code and low-code development platforms and how they transform agencies with AI and collaboration.
Who Is Gali Erez?
Gali Erez is the General Manager and Head of Wix Studio at Wix, where she leads product and design teams. She is passionate about translating technology into accessible and user-friendly products, focusing on empowering designers through innovative tools and platforms like Wix Studio and the newly introduced Figma plugin.
Gartner forecasts that 70% of new business applications will use no-code/low-code technologies by 2025, which is a 25% increase since 2020.
Businesses are more frequently leveraging no-code/low-code development platforms to bridge the IT skills gap and achieve increased agility, higher flexibility, and innovation, among other benefits.
"People feel empowered by all the technology that is going on, and their expectations keep getting bigger and bigger for what they want to be able to achieve."
"I think it's the decade of auto deduction, like learning by yourself and being able to kind of grab a bunch of tools to become kind of this superpower when human,” Gali explains.
This empowerment that Gali highlights is mostly prevalent among non-IT professionals who can now develop complex websites thanks to no-code and low-code platforms.
Hence, it comes as no surprise that 80% of technology products and services will be built by non-developers in 2024.
No-Code/Low-Code Development Platforms Are a Game-Changer for Agencies
There's a significant shift in the way agencies develop websites with no-code/low-code development platforms, highlights Gali.
"What is amazing about the no-code tools, and you see it with agencies, is that they have a project in hand or brief and they have this vision for it, and they want to be able to achieve it exactly how they envisioned,” she says.
While agencies particularly rely on no-code/low-code platforms to quickly and accurately bring ideas to life, they also leverage them to customize solutions without extensive coding, allowing for efficient and tailored project execution.
Partnering with a web development company can help businesses effectively implement no-code/low-code solutions while providing any necessary custom development.

Gali believes that the combination of personalization and AI integration is a key reason agencies opt for no-code/low-code development.
“What's drawing agencies, and there are many different agencies today, is that they each grab their sector and they become good at certain parts, and they collaborate with other agencies, which is also interesting to see," she says.
This collaborative approach allows agencies to achieve great results efficiently.
"And I think that's obviously where AI comes into play, and also, collaboration," Gali adds.

Additionally, the ongoing debate about the role of AI reflects the careful balance agencies strive to maintain between automation and human creativity.
"We have a lot of conversations about 'how much do you want the AI to do for you?'" Ali says.
She also emphasizes the industry's leadership role, highlighting AI responsibility as a key measure and the importance of thoughtful integration of AI in the development process:
"I think we have a lot of responsibility as leaders in the industry of what this is going to be. And I think it's incredibly important to understand that."

No-Code/Low-Code Platforms Empower Agencies of All Sizes
Small- and medium-sized agencies often have fewer resources than bigger and more established ones, making it harder for them to stand out and be chosen by clients.
No-code/low-code development platforms give them an edge to not only show clients that they can deliver but also that they’re worth investing in.
Gali points out the advantages even smaller agencies gain through these technologies:
"Anything a client needs, you want to make sure it's an agency that you don't hit a wall. So I think that's a place that we see that even the small agencies have the vision, and they have the capabilities to take on big clients because of collaboration, because of AI, because they can do so much more as a single individual."
The bottom line: no-code/low-code development tools empower smaller agencies to successfully perform tasks that usually require more resources and operate on par with larger competitors.
Whether you’re a big or small agency, you can make your work easier, become more productive, and produce higher-quality outputs using no-code/low-code development.
