Our analysts track the weekly developments reshaping AI and how it reaches users. Brands building AI products can partner with vetted AI companies to bring their ideas to life.
Agents took on more work this week, and the rules around them shifted with it.
- Meta's Muse keeps a page on everyone in a user's life, refreshed hourly, according to instructions extracted from the agent.
- OpenAI introduced dots, always-on agents with dedicated cloud computers, and priced GPT-6.1 Sol at a fifth of Astra's rate.
- Google began rolling out Gemini 4 Argon to trusted cyber defenders, with no public release date.
- Amazon Ads renamed its platform Amazon Ads Agent, and DVA+ starts rolling out in late October.
- Reddit will end RSS support on November 13 and close remaining public API access in March 2027.

Our Take: Is AI's Next Battle Over Access?
Every agent announced this week is only as useful as the doors it can open.
We think the access fight is the one worth watching, because the companies holding these doors decide what an agent sees and where it can act.
Reddit did this in 2023, when API pricing killed off the third-party apps and left data licensing as the only way in.
Meta, OpenAI, Google, and Amazon are drawing the same line now on personal data, app connections, ad systems, and model releases.
Whoever sets the terms first gets to charge for them later.
Marketers should treat agent access the way they treat platform reach, something they rent and never own.
Meta's Muse Builds Hourly Contact Files
Instructions extracted from Meta's Muse tell the agent to keep "a page for every person in the user's life," Wired reported.
Every hour, it compiles data on family, partners, friends, colleagues, and people the user follows.
A page can record where someone lives, what they do, and dates such as birthdays.
Independent researcher Karan Joshi got the files by asking the app in its normal chat to share its own software.
Meta says it meant those files to stay accessible.
Meta spokesperson Daniel Roberts told Wired that Muse draws on public information and what users choose to share.
His example was Muse remembering that the person who sent an invoice is the plumber that a user hired before.
The agent had the plumber on file before the invoice arrived.
Muse stores relationship data that no brand collected and nobody opted into, so any customer data strategy written before agents like this needs a second look.
OpenAI's Dots Work Around the Clock
OpenAI launched dots at its DevDay conference, always-on agents that run on GPT-6 Astra with a dedicated cloud computer and browser.
Through ChatGPT, they reach more than 4,000 apps using the plugins that a user connects to.
A dot gets to work before anyone asks, in the background and around the clock, OpenAI said.
Once a dot is on, Custom Rules let users allow, require approval for, or block specific actions.
Sensitive tasks, such as changing a password, always stay with the user.
Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets get dots first, while enterprise workspaces get a beta that an admin must enable.

OpenAI priced GPT-6.1 Sol at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
The rate is a fifth of Astra's, with intelligence that the company says comes close.
Eligible enterprise customers can also register interest in a marketplace that puts part of an existing commitment toward partner software.
Adobe, Figma, HubSpot, and Salesforce sit among the first 32 partners, according to the DevDay recap.
A marketing team's Adobe, HubSpot, or Salesforce spend could count toward its OpenAI commitment.
Software budgets start consolidating around whoever sells the agent, which makes this a procurement question before it's a martech one.
Gemini 4 Argon Starts With Cyber Defenders
Google is rolling out its new frontier model, Gemini 4 Argon, to trusted cyber defenders first.
They get access through Fairwind, a limited-access program Google launched on September 2 for governments, cloud customers, and security partners.
These defenders and Google's own teams get the model without cyber guardrails.
Paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers come next, with no date given.
The phased start lets Google test safeguards while putting a cyber-focused model in defenders' hands early, Gemini model product lead Tulsee Doshi told CNBC.
Google says that Argon sets a record on the DeepSWE software engineering benchmark.
It also ranks first on Zapier's AutomationBench, which tests work across business functions.
Reuters noted that Argon trails rivals on two of the four coding benchmarks in the release and that the launch follows months of delays.
Argon launches at an introductory $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, doubling afterward, matching OpenAI's rate.
Google priced a model that nobody can buy yet, pushing competitors to answer the number before Argon actually ships.
Amazon Hands Its Ad Platform to Agents
Amazon Ads renamed its unified platform Amazon Ads Agent at unBoxed on September 29.
Agentic AI now runs across sponsored ads, display, video, and audio.

Two changes hand more of the work to automation.
Full-Funnel Campaigns now runs one advertiser-approved campaign across sponsored ads, display, video, and streaming TV, open to all U.S. advertisers.
DVA+ starts rolling out in late October, with an advertiser setting a goal, products, creative, and budget while the system handles the rest.
Experienced buyers keep manual control of bidding and deals.
Amazon also expanded the chat tool it launched last year, adding media planning, targeting, and analytics over the coming months.
Advertisers who applied its targeting recommendations saw more than 25% additional unique customers and about 10% lower cost per impression.
Handing the budget to an automated buyer makes the media planning decisions invisible, and nobody has solved this reporting gap yet.
Reddit Sets a Date to End RSS
Reddit will stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13, calling them a common route for large-scale scraping and automated abuse.
Any social listening tool built on RSS loses that source the same day.
RSS feeds outside communities that a person moderates have no replacement, Reddit said.
What replaces RSS depends on how the feed is used.
- Common moderator alerts can move to Discord Relay, an app on Reddit's Developer Platform.
- RSS feeds outside communities a person moderates have no replacement, the company said.
The public API follows a longer timeline. New access requests stop October 31, and apps and bots must register by January 12, 2027, or start losing access.
All remaining public access closes in March 2027.
More than 14,000 apps and bots have registered to move to the Developer Platform, and Reddit is paying eligible apps $1,000 to finish.
Reddit has not said whether outside monitoring tools, such as social listening platforms, can run on the new platform.
It is converting free access into a licensing relationship, so any brand strategy that treats Reddit sentiment as free research needs repricing.
Three Checks Before Any AI Agent Connects
Before agents reach further into a team's accounts and tools, three checks catch three different access problems.
- Set Custom Rules before connecting apps to a dot. Connections are shared across dots, ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex, so an app connected once works in all four.
- Audit DVA+ manual settings before fourth-quarter budget moves. Advanced controls cover targeting, deals, supply sources, frequency caps, and bidding.
- Map every tool connected to Reddit through RSS or the public API. Social listening vendors should state which route they use and whether they're registered.
The web is still public. What is changing is the assumption that public means accessible.
Access terms come with a bill attached.
Last week's AI roundup worked through the same thread on cost, from Microsoft's usage-based Copilot billing to Amazon's Claude plugin for sellers.
If an agent can keep a page on everyone its user knows, who gets to read it?
