The NBA has just unveiled "The Heist II," its latest promotional film for the upcoming 2024 Emirates NBA Cup, which kicks off on November 12.
Led by independent creative agency Translation, produced by PRETTYBIRD, and directed by Paul Hunter, the film brings together some of the league's biggest stars for an epic crime thriller-inspired adventure.
A sequel to 2023's "The Heist," "The Sopranos" star Michael Imperioli reprises his role as the brains behind the entire operation. Joining him is "Ahsoka" star Rosario Dawson, who plays a cunning thief.
Of course, this high-value NBA commercial would not be complete without a talented roster of world-class athletes:
- Stephen Curry
- Anthony Davis
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
- Tyrese Haliburton
- Jrue Holiday
- Jamal Murray
In a news release, NBA CMO Tammy Henault stated that the new campaign builds on the magic of last year's energetic ad.
"We expect the familiar story arc of a theatrical heist to resonate with a broad audience and further cement that the Emirates NBA Cup brings a new level of excitement to the early part of the season," she shared.

In addition to the main film, complementary ads featuring Hall of Famer Grant Hill will launch before the Knockout Rounds, Semifinals, and Championship.
The campaign will run across linear and connected TV, as well as OOH, digital, social, audio, and print.
Professional basketball players are some of today's most influential figures.
By leveraging their star power, the NBA is able to utilize its massive influencer marketing potential in each of its campaigns.
Eyes on the Prize
"The Heist II" begins in Las Vegas, as Imperioli's character introduces the coveted Emirates NBA Cup.
It cuts to the golden trophy, which sits comfortably in a penthouse suite belonging to Davis, who won last year's tournament with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Much of the action-packed commercial is dedicated to the efforts of the other five NBA All-Stars vying for the prize as they scheme to steal the trophy.

Antics ensue as the players attempt increasingly hilarious stunts: climbing up the side of the hotel building, going up elevator shafts, dodging motion sensor lasers, and swimming through the famous Bellagio Fountain.
As the six players converge and begin fighting in Davis' suite, the spot ends with Dawson and Imperioli taking the cup for themselves and telling the stars to play for it.
Back in May, the NBA launched a spot for the 2024 Finals featuring a cast of celebrities and basketball legends, including Dwyane Wade.
NBA stars also appear outside of NBA commercials, with Anthony Edwards starring in a campaign for Chipotle earlier this week.
