Google shakes up the browsing experience with the release of a significant update to its Chrome browser.
The tech giant introduced Minimized Custom Tabs on Wednesday, a new feature that allows users to seamlessly move between native apps and web content with one touch.
The feature allows Custom Tabs to shrink into a small picture-in-picture window that floats above the native app interface, letting users stay within their current app while browsing.
While minimized, users can dock the Custom Tab to the side of the screen, and upon maximizing the page, a simple tap on a down arrow reverts it to the picture-in-picture window.

This makes the web experience feel more intuitive and natural, especially helping users who need to work on many tabs at a time.
It also gives developers practical benefits, allowing them to direct users to account sign-ups or subscriptions, enhance engagement, and lessen the risk of users getting off the app.
Improvements to the Android User Experience
The update makes the web more accessible within the Android ecosystem, aligning itself with Google's goal of seamless integration.
With AI-powered features like Circle to Search, users can now effortlessly navigate to the web using gestures such as circling or highlighting.
The update is being rolled out in the latest version of Chrome (M124) and will automatically be applied wherever developers are utilizing Chrome's Custom Tabs feature.
Google emphasizes that while this change is specific to Chrome browsers, it hopes other browsers will adopt a similar functionality.
