CAPE has been named agency of record for BetMGM, formalizing a relationship that began in 2024.
The expanded partnership launches with "It Happens Here," a national football campaign starring Jon Hamm.
The work extends BetMGM's "Make It Legendary" platform, which Highdive created in 2025, through The Legends Lounge.
The setting draws on sportsbooks, casinos, speakeasies, and Las Vegas entertainment.
Dave Meyers directed this latest campaign for CAPE, which debuted on August 29 during college football games.

Additional creative will run throughout the season across TV, social, digital, out-of-home, and BetMGM properties.
The platform also extends into casino marketing, giving CAPE work outside the football calendar.
"What I love about working with CAPE is that they understand that creative and strategy are intrinsically linked," BetMGM Senior Director of Brand Strategy and Communications AJ Mazza told DesignRush.
"They see strategy as a way to make the work smarter, which ultimately makes it work harder."
CAPE's BetMGM work spans responsible gambling messaging, casino promotions, and national sports advertising.
Hamm Anchors a Set That Sells Three Products
The Legends Lounge gives "Make It Legendary" a physical setting for different product stories.
Hamm acts as its host, using understated pauses, changes in cadence, and controlled reactions to set the campaign’s tone.
Meyers keeps the look cinematic and the pace fast, then lets the joke arrive tongue-in-cheek at the end.
The setting also draws from BetMGM's connection to MGM Resorts and the company's real casinos and sportsbooks.
"BetMGM has something the other apps don’t. It actually exists in the real world. Vegas. Casinos. Sportsbooks," CAPE Group Creative Director Nick Novich told DesignRush.
"So we wanted to stop positioning BetMGM as an app and start treating it like a world people could enter."
This idea runs through the campaign's three opening spots.
One execution uses Hamm to explain BetMGM’s Cash Out feature through a deliberately awkward exchange over what "cash early" means.
Another uses a lopsided game as a reason to keep watching, with Hamm arguing BetMGM can make a predictable result more interesting.
A third puts the joke on Legendary Thursdays, with Hamm refusing to miss the weekly promotion while another conversation unfolds around him.
The brand strategy stays consistent while each film gives the room a different commercial job.
Betway recently took a comparable world-building approach with its Clubhouse campaign, creating one setting that can absorb new athletes and sponsorships.
Two sportsbooks reaching for the same branded-room device in one month suggests it has become the default answer in the industry's brand positioning.
CAPE Builds a System for Season-Long Output
CAPE and BetMGM began working together in 2024 before the agency's public launch last year.
Previous work includes "Mullet Over," the December 2025 responsible gambling spot with Connor McDavid.
This was also the time when BetMGM closed with an 8% GGR share in online sports, well behind its 22% in iGaming.
Online sports is the sector where the brand has the most ground to make up, and it's the business that these three spots sell.
Net revenue there grew 63% in 2025 while market share held flat at 8%, so BetMGM is keeping pace with a category that keeps expanding.
Holding share in a growing category means that BetMGM has to win switchers, and that takes brand recognition built over seasons.
The AOR appointment buys BetMGM a partner staffed against the full calendar.
Three lessons stand out for marketers building creative systems across busy sports calendars:
- Build an operating system from the start. Reusable assets make frequent campaign output easier to manage.
- Keep strategy close to production. A consistent framework helps new executions retain the same brand logic.
- Plan for regulated messaging early. A creative model that accommodates compliance requirements avoids rebuilding the platform later.
CAPE's first real test comes in January, when football ends, and the Legends Lounge has to sell casino without the sport carrying it.
Our Take: Will Audiences Remember the Lounge or Just Hamm?
Hamm is doing almost all the work in these three spots, and the room around him is doing very little.
We think that audiences will remember Hamm before they remember the room, so the Lounge is a multi-season bet.

The fix is cheap and specific, a sound cue or a piece of set dressing that shows up in every film.
BetMGM should be tracking unaided recall of the Lounge against recall of Hamm right now, because the gap tells CAPE what to fix next.
If the room only works when Hamm is standing in it, BetMGM has bought a spokesperson deal with extra production costs.
Whichever sportsbook makes its room memorable first gets to keep it when the talent contract ends.
