Google’s Keyboard Cap Is an Actual Cap You Can Use To Type

Google's latest innovation is not only a hat, it's also a keycap you can type with.

Say hello to the Gboard's Keyboard Cap, a hat that allows users to type different characters using their head.

"Because you use this keyboard all the time, you want to always carry it around in style. With the Gboard hat version, you can simply incorporate it into your daily fashion and type text whenever you feel like it," Gboard wrote in a blog post. 

While the whole product feels like a creative gimmick, its developers assure customers that it actually works.

The Gboard hat version uses a special input mechanism called the "Atama Input" that lets you select characters by pointing your head towards a character and pressing your head.

This sends the selected characters to devices via Bluetooth, making the hat both a portable innovation and a head-turning fashion statement. 

The Google team has made the DIY design and schematics available for download for interested developers, so they can create their own customizable keyboard hats at home.

They have also shared a step-by-step guide on how to make an "easy version" of the hat with cardboard and scissors, so "although you cannot enter text, you can enjoy the fashionable feeling."

"I have been trying to find a keyboard on my head for a long time," one user shared in the video. "It's so easy to put on, it's head and shoulders above the rest," he concluded.
