Toyota has taken a major step toward revolutionizing the future of automotive technology by partnering with Nvidia, marking a new era in the development of self-driving vehicles.
The partnership was announced by Nvidia co-founder and CEO, Jensen Huang during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas.
The global automotive giant will integrate Nvidia’s Drive AGX Orin supercomputer and its safety-focused operating system, DriveOS, into its next-generation cars, creating a seamless blend of artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous driving technology.

The collaboration is poised to reshape Toyota’s entire approach to vehicle manufacturing, with a focus on enhancing driving safety, performance, and innovation.
As Jensen Huang emphasized during his keynote at CES:
“NVIDIA is bringing two decades of automotive computing, safety expertise and its CUDA AV platform to transform the multitrillion dollar auto industry.”
Nvidia’s advanced Drive platform, which includes its GPU-powered supercomputers and AI-driven operating system, will enable Toyota to build vehicles equipped with the necessary infrastructure to support autonomous driving at scale.
According to both companies, this partnership will significantly accelerate Toyota’s ambitions to lead the self-driving car revolution.
Toyota Strengthens Its Digital Strategy
The agreement is a crucial part of Toyota’s broader strategy to stay competitive in an increasingly digital automotive market.
Toyota has long relied on Nvidia's cloud-based computing systems, with the Toyota Research Institute using Nvidia technology since 2019 to develop and validate autonomous vehicle systems.
In addition, Nvidia's DGX computers have been key in training AI models for self-driving vehicles. The recent announcement marks an expansion of this collaboration, with Toyota now integrating Nvidia's "AGX" onboard AI computer into its vehicles.

Toyota isn’t alone in its push for autonomous innovation. Autonomous vehicle startup Aurora Innovation and automotive supplier Continental also unveiled a long-term partnership with Nvidia.
However, Toyota's partnership with Nvidia represents one of the largest commitments to self-driving technology in the industry to date.
