Renowned video game development studio Naughty Dog, just announced its new sci-fi game “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” currently being developed for the PlayStation 5 console.
The new project was unveiled at this year’s The Game Awards and it promises Naughty Dog's "wildest, most creative story yet" with a star-studded cast expected to elevate the game's emotional impact and appeal.
Naughty Dog has been working on “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” since 2020 and this brand-new adventure marks its foray into the science fiction genre.
The Sony-owned studio has been well-known for cinematic storytelling and heartbreaking realism through franchises like “Uncharted” and “The Last of Us.”

The new “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” game introduces a bold narrative about a tattooed stranded bounty hunter who watches anime and drives a Porsche-branded rocket ship on a mysterious planet — highlighting the studio’s knack for emotionally charged storytelling.
Directed by Naughty Dog’s Studio Head and Head of Creative Neil Druckmann, the game is expected to immerse players in a futuristic world, blending compelling character arcs with retro-futuristic aesthetics inspired by classic anime and future punk themes.
“Intergalactic stars our newest protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria — a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago.
In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit,” shared Druckmann.

Druckmann also confirmed popular actress Tati Gabrielle, known for her roles in "The 100," "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," and "Uncharted: The Movie," as the game's protagonist, Jordan A. Mun.
“This project allowed us to explore uncharted territory, blending rich narrative depth with a visually stunning sci-fi universe,” said Gabrielle.
The video game will also be scored by Nine Inch Nail bandmates and best friends Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Meanwhile, comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani, famous for “Silicon Valley” and ”The Big Sick” will play Colin Graves, one of the bounty hunter Jordan Mun's targets
Celebrated actor Tony Dalton, known for his roles in “Better Call Saul” and “Hawkeye” is also part of the ensemble, though his specific role has not been detailed.
Beyond all this, the studio is keeping everything about the cast and story under wraps.
Delivering Action, Exploration, and Deep Storytelling
“Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” tells the story of Jordan A. Mun, a fearless bounty hunter who crash-lands on Sempiria — a planet shrouded in mystery and cut off from the universe for over 600 years.
From the opening sequence, players are thrust into a vibrant yet eerie environment, complete with retro-futuristic technology and alien landscapes.

Every explorer who dared venture there vanished without a trace.
Now stranded, Jordan must rely on her wits and courage to uncover Sempiria’s secrets and find a way home.
With stunning anime-inspired visuals and a haunting score by Reznor and Ross, the game promises an unforgettable journey filled with action, exploration, and heartfelt moments.
Exploring Intergalactic's Unique Brand Integration
From a business perspective, what makes this new game intriguing is the unique brand integration of Sony, Adidas, and Porsche.
The protagonist uses a Sony CD player to play music, wears Adidas sneakers, and pilots a Porsche-branded rocket ship.
Naughty Dog has partnered with these luxury brands from three different industries: automotive, fashion, and technology, and seamlessly integrated them into the game’s narrative without becoming too intrusive and disrupting the immersive experience.

While product placement and brand integration are not unique to the game, they are not usually as prominent as in this game.
Given that the game development company has a long history of partnering with brands like Sony, similar integrations can be expected throughout the game.
Brands participating in collaborations like this can enjoy higher exposure, whereas game developers can benefit from strong brand partnerships and new revenue streams, especially when global brands are involved.
As AAA games production costs skyrocket, this and other revenue options might be necessary for more studios to maintain sustainability.
