And thanks to deeper integrations with Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, the assistant can pick up on user preferences.

It can then tailor its responses based on interests, conversations, and shared history across Meta's platforms.

Voice also plays a big role in the new experience, with an early demo of Meta's full-duplex speech technology offering a more fluid, back-and-forth interaction.

Users can ask for help, create content, or just chat — by voice or text — while on the go.

While it's still a work in progress, Meta says the app is part of a longer-term vision to create a seamless AI experience that moves with the user across devices and platforms.

This launch signals a foundational step in Meta’s goal to build a persistent, context-aware AI layer, one that could eventually be monetized through ads, commerce, or premium services.

With its own AI app, Meta also reduces reliance on third-party platforms, strengthening control over the AI user experience and data flow across its ecosystem.

This positions the tech giant as a strong contender against OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Your AI Sidekick, Everywhere

The Meta AI app also replaces the former Meta View app for Ray-Ban Meta glasses, consolidating your AI tools and settings in one place.

You can start a conversation on your glasses and pick it up on your phone or the web, with synced history and bidirectional chat between platforms.
