Santa Gives Gifts a Day Early in Aldi’s Latest Spot

Santa Claus is a day ahead of his schedule in the latest Christmas spot of the grocery store chain Aldi.

In the 80-second spot, a modern-day Santa enjoys his own company alone in his home, as children all over the world rejoice upon receiving their Christmas gifts a day before the holiday. 

To help him unwind, Claus drives to his nearest Aldi store for a quick grocery run, before returning home to cook up a special feast.

With the Christmas spread all set, Santa welcomes his family and friends for Christmas dinner, but not before he hides his iconic uniform, as the advert closes.

Created in collaboration with TBWA Paris, "Christmas Before Christmas" lives up to the brand's reputation for having whimsical and heartwarming holiday spots.

Aldi France Director of Communication Anne-Marie Gaultier shared that the company wanted to revisit the tale of Father Christmas and continue its saga of festive campaigns.

"We discover him in his own world, but this time he also wants to enjoy Christmas Eve, having his loved ones over for dinner with the quality products he finds in our shops,” Gaultier explained. 

Santa, who is posed as a regular family man in the latest spot, aligns with the brand's goal of putting Aldi in consumers' minds when it comes to Christmas shopping. 

Aldi Is Set To Break Holiday Records

In line with the campaign, the retail giant is on its path to having a record-breaking Christmas season, anticipating sales of over five million bottles of sparkling wine and more than 43 million pigs in blankets.

Additionally, the supermarket chain has opened its 1,000th store in the United Kingdom, garnered over 581,000 new customers, and was awarded the Christmas Retailer of the Year award at the Quality Food Awards 2023 in November.
