After the success of Grimace's birthday campaign, McDonald's is bringing back another fan-favorite character: Uncle O'Grimacey.
The fuzzy green McDonaldland resident will return alongside the iconic Shamrock Shake, adding a nostalgic touch to the seasonal menu offering.
The campaign aims to celebrate both the beloved minty treat and McDonald's long-standing support for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

According to a statement from McDonald's, everything began when Grimace rediscovered his family's original Shamrock Shake recipe:
"That discovery sparked Grimace to reconnect with his vibrant, joyful, and generous uncle, Uncle O'Grimacey."
To mark the occasion, Uncle O'Grimacey will embark on a cross-country journey, bringing Shamrock Shake festivities to McDonald's locations nationwide.
Special-edition merchandise featuring the character will also be available, with a percentage of proceeds going to RMHC.
Additionally, McDonald's is incorporating Uncle O'Grimacey into in-store decorations, digital campaigns, and social media activations, ensuring that his return is felt across multiple touchpoints.
McDonald’s keeps itself top of mind by launching buzzy campaigns and celebrity partnerships that tap into nostalgia and cultural moments, reinforcing brand loyalty while driving sustained consumer engagement.
Meanwhile, in January, McDonald's tapped actor and WWE superstar John Cena to star in a campaign for the McValue platform.
That same month, the brand teamed up with Pokémon for a set of special Happy Meals.
McDonald's Social Initiatives
Uncle O'Grimacey, who first appeared in the late 1970s as the mascot for the Shamrock Shake, returns just in time to help raise awareness for RMHC.
This year, McDonald's franchisees will donate 25 cents to the charity for every Shamrock Shake purchased between February 10 and March 23.
The goal is to raise $5 million, which would provide 50,000 overnight stays for families at RMHC programs.

McDonald's North America Chief Impact Officer Michael Gonda highlighted how the campaign brings the brand back to the roots of the RHMC.
“Our long-standing tradition of the Shamrock Shake is a testament to the joy we bring to our customers. This year, we are getting back to the first fundraiser that started our powerful partnership with RMHC.”
By blending nostalgia with a charitable initiative, McDonald's continues to find ways to connect with its customers while giving back.
Uncle O'Grimacey's return is also a good display of brand purpose, highlighting the importance of supporting families in need.
