Fast-food giant McDonald's teamed up with actor and WWE star John Cena to tout its latest bang-for-the-buck offering. 

In an inspiring spot, the famous wrestler introduces us to the McValue platform, which gives customers more variety, choices, and flexibility in tending to their McDonald's cravings.

Dressed up as Mr. Rogers, Cena dives into the specifics of the platform, before delivering an inspirational speech that most of his fans would know him for. 

"I always talk about 'earning my sunset' and there’s nothing like heading to McDonald’s after completely crushing your day,” Cena shared in a statement.

Launched nationwide on Tuesday, the much-awaited McValue platform includes wallet-friendly offerings, such as:

  • Buy One, Add One for $1, where customers can buy one full-priced McValue menu item and add one more item of their choice for only $1
  • $5 Meal Deals, where customers can choose between a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, small fries, four-piece Chicken McNuggets, and a small soft drink for just $5
  • Local deals that vary per location
  • In-app exclusive deals, including free medium fries with a $1 purchase every Friday, and free McCrispy chicken for new app users

In a statement, McDonald's USA President Joe Erlinger shared his belief that there's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to value, which is why the company worked closely with its franchisees to create a platform that will let customers "define value on their own terms."

McDonald's latest effort is a further testament to why it's one of the biggest fast-food chains all over the world.

By tagging a globally loved superstar to be the brand ambassador of its new McValue platform menu, McDonald's increases brand awareness and reinforces its commitment to offering accessible, customizable, and satisfying meal options for every customer.

Partnering with digital marketing agencies can further amplify such campaigns, ensuring they reach the right audience through tailored strategies and multi-channel promotion.

McValue and Motivation

The "McValue Anthem" spot kickstarts with Cena introducing us to the McValue, touting the buy one, get one for $1 offering, which also includes items from the breakfast menu. 

The actor-wrestler then begins his aspirational monologue as a beautiful sunset appears behind him.

"Take a look at your surroundings. Take a look at your environment. Take a look at your past decisions. Take a look at your present. Are you curious about the future?" he asks the viewers.

A montage of nature, wildlife, and city shots ensues, providing a dramatic effect that matches his motivational speech.

Cena then fades into the frame, dancing with one nugget on hand, as he and his McValue meals float up to the skies.

"You might just think McValue adds the power of choice to McDonald's menu. But it also adds the power of perspective, and depending on how you look at it, that might be the most powerful thing you can order.

And while you're here, I can't wait to meet you," Cena says, closing his monologue with the iconic "You Can't See Me" wave and his very own version of the jingle, "ba da pa pa pa." 

Recently, Cena also narrated a spot for Honda featuring FIA F1 World Champion Max Verstappen.
