Men's haircare franchise Sport Clips Haircuts has teamed up with sports headwear destination Lids for an innovative new product that lets you boast your fresh haircut and fashion style at the same time.

Made together with independent agency Preacher, the two brands have introduced the first-ever "Clear Hat" — their solution to letting men show off their hairstyle and head fashion. 

The unconventional idea was born out of the rivalry between a man's freshly cut hair and his favorite piece of headwear. 

With the Clear Hat, men will no longer have to choose between which to show-off, as they can now do both.

The Clear Hat's first debuted on National Hat Day last January 15 across the brands' socials. 

Today, January 20, Sport Clips Haircuts and Lids will put 100 pieces of the exclusive headwear up for grabs to lucky winners. 

The brands' efforts continue offline as they give Lids visitors an MVP treatment at Sport Clips Haircuts, which entails massaging shampoo, hot steamed towel, and neck and shoulder treatment.

Meanwhile, Sport Clips customers will also be entitled to special discounts at Lids.

Preacher Senior Art Director Will McLeod shared his thoughts on the campaign in a statement: 

"There’s this inherently ridiculous tension between these two brands that share the same goal of bringing personal style to the tops of men’s heads, but approaching it in directly opposing ways.
Through this collab, we created something entirely new while highlighting the best of both brands. There are too many great mullets and fades out there that shouldn't be covered up by hats. But if they are, let it be a clear hat."

Sport Clips Haircuts CMO Martin Lee reinforced these statements, saying the partnership is putting an end to the rivalry between hat and hair

"Our pro-stylists take great care in giving our clients incredible haircuts and now our clients can show off their fresh cuts all day, every day," he added.

Who would have known that a see-through cap would be the solution to flaunting a fresh cut while donning a unique style?

This effort highlights both brands' vibrant identities, as well as their abilities to think outside of the box.

Hair vs. Hat

To amplify their efforts, the brand has launched a 45-second hero spot titled "Rival-We." 

"There's a rivalry going on. It's between your hat and your freshly cut hair. They're going head-to-head on your head," the narrator says, as a man struggles to choose whether he wants to show off his hair or his headwear. 

Through fun visuals and upbeat narration, viewers witness the two brands shake on it as they "set their dome differences aside" to launch a product on National Hat Day.

Enter "The Clear Hat," which serves as a "spotlight for your locks, and a display case for your fade."

We then see the many ways men can style the cap, as they sport different haircuts. 

"It's hair's favorite hat," the narrator says, as the commercial ends.

Previously, Lids got personal for its holiday campaign, allowing customers to personalize hats as Christmas presents.
