Pizza is already a regular meal for millions of Americans. Cavit Wines wants to give those meals a wine pairing, too.
The Italian wine brand teamed up with Mike's Hot Honey for "Pizza & Pinots," a National Pizza Month campaign running throughout October.
The partnership combines wine pairings, pizza-inspired cocktails, and a $3 rebate that shoppers can stack up to $36 through October.
Cavit matches its Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir to familiar pizza styles, with Mike's Hot Honey adding a sweet-and-spicy accent.
Marc D. Taub, president and CEO of Palm Bay International, Cavit's U.S. importer, said the brand keeps looking for ways to get back onto the dinner table.
"Few things are as universally loved as a great slice of pizza and the perfect wine," Taub shared in a press release.
"The right wine truly elevates the experience and can make pizza night that much more enjoyable.
Now, Cavit and Mike's Hot Honey are bringing two fan favorites together to make the occasion even more delicious and fun."
A $3 rebate also gives consumers a financial incentive to take the combinations home.
The ad strategy gives Cavit a familiar occasion to promote its wines, with a purchase incentive waiting at the register.
Cavit Makes Pizza Night a Wine Occasion
"Pizza & Pinots" pairs Cavit wines with pizza styles and Mike's Hot Honey to give consumers practical serving ideas.
Cavit Pinot Grigio is recommended for pepperoni and mushroom pizzas.
Its acidity complements richer toppings, while the wine's citrus notes suit earthy flavors.
Meanwhile, Cavit Pinot Noir is best paired with spicy pork and sausage pizzas.
Its berry notes and subtle earthiness complement the stronger flavors.
Mike's Hot Honey adds another layer to both pairings, matching its signature sweet heat with Cavit's food-friendly wines.
The collaboration also introduces a tropical cocktail, the Golden Stinger.
It is made with Cavit Pinot Grigio, pineapple juice, orange juice, lime juice, and Mike's Hot Honey Extra Hot.
A Tajín rim adds another flavor element.

Cavit also offers $3 back on qualifying Pinot Grigio or Pinot Noir purchases at participating retailers, covering 750mL and 1.5L bottles where legal.
Co-branding earns its keep when both products end up in the same cart, while a rebate gives shoppers a reason to put them there.
58% Pizza Dinner Demand Gives Cavit a Sales Opportunity
Pizza consumption offers Cavit a recurring meal occasion for wine promotion, while the rebate gives the campaign a measurable retail component.
About 1 in 9 Americans eat pizza on any given day, according to What We Eat in America, NHANES 2017 to March 2020.
Nearly 90% of pizza intake happens at lunch and dinner, and among adults, lunch accounts for 28% and dinner 58%.
Circana data cited by the company also ranks Cavit as the top Italian Pinot Grigio brand by volume in the 1.5-liter format.
Most pizza gets eaten at dinner, so Cavit is aiming its brand strategy at an hour that households already set aside.

Brands can apply three lessons from this approach.
- Familiar habits create repeatable sales occasions. Brands should connect products to regular meals or routines to give consumers more reasons to buy.
- Purchase incentives can help convert interest. Teams should pair relevant content with targeted offers to encourage trial and measure redemption.
- Promotions need sales evidence. Companies should compare promotional sales with a baseline to estimate incremental demand and identify repeat purchases.
When brands connect everyday habits with clear product uses, they can assess whether seasonal marketing can generate sales post-promotion.
Our Take: Can Both Brands Gain From Pizza Night?
Mike's Hot Honey already owns the pizza association that Cavit is renting for October.
We think that both brands still come out ahead, since wine has no default seat at pizza night the way beer and soda do.
The challenge is measuring changes in purchasing behavior for either company.
Recipe engagement alone can't establish if shoppers buy both products, try a new combination, or repeat the purchase.
Hot honey has run this play for years with DiGiorno, California Pizza Kitchen, and Utz.
And the partners keep coming back because the lift shows up on their side.
Cavit should be watching November repeat buyers, since October redemption counts will flatter everyone involved.

Both campaigns work the same angle, taking a pizza habit people already have and attaching something new to it.
