Toyota once again showcased its national partnership with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy for the third and final installment of its 2024-25 NFL campaign for Northern California Toyota Dealers.
“The Driver’s Seat,” helmed by independent media and advertising agency H/L, takes audiences on a reflective journey, blending Purdy’s leadership ethos with Toyota’s brand values of dependability and resilience.
The campaign continues H/L’s tradition of integrating sports marketing with localized brand storytelling.
The result is a creative automotive ad strategy that aligns Toyota’s reputation as Northern California’s leading auto brand with the 49ers’ legacy of excellence, with the new Tacoma at the center.

H/L Executive Creative Director Dallas Baker led the initiative in collaboration with Wolfhouse, the agency's in-house production studio, alongside director and cinematographer Carlo Silvio.
In a statement, Baker explained that the NorCal Toyota Dealers is more than just sponsors for the 49ers, adding:
“We’re part of the 49ers Faithful, too. It acknowledges the incredible burden (and opportunity) of playing in the footsteps of Montana and Young in a humorous way that highlights how an unassuming young quarterback processes all that, making Toyota’s connection with Brock Purdy and the 49ers that much stronger.”
“The Driver’s Seat” debuted during Sunday’s 49ers game against the Chicago Bears, adding a personal touch to the ongoing partnership between Toyota and the Bay Area community.
Through localized campaigns like this, brands, with the help of advertising agencies, are able to showcase their dedication to driving business growth and community engagement.
In the Driver’s Seat
The 30-second spot begins with Purdy stepping into a Toyota Tacoma and addressing the audience: “Let me tell you about the driver’s seat.”
As he starts the car, we see him driving through scenic routes, reflecting on his responsibilities to the 49ers and the significance of being “behind the wheel.”
The tone shifts humorously when his wife, Jenna Brandt, snaps him out of his monologue and daydream by tapping on the passenger-side window and asking to be let in.

Brock sheepishly apologizes, only for Brandt to remark that it’s “the second time this week.”
The spot concludes with the Toyota logo and a declaration that they’re a “proud partner” of the San Francisco 49ers.
Recently, Purdy starred in another Toyota spot where he hilariously poofed into fans’ living rooms as they prepared for game day.
