Whataburger's 75th Anniversary Celebration: Key Findings
Quick listen: Whataburger celebrates 75 years with nostalgia, capes, and app rewards — in under 2 minutes.
Whataburger is turning 75, and it’s throwing a celebration big enough to fill a baseball stadium.
On August 8, Rewards members can order a classic #1 Whataburger for just 75 cents via the app or website, between 11 AM and 8 PM local time.
The digital-only deal is limited to one per account and doesn’t include add-ons, but the price is part of the point.

It's a callback to 1949, when Whataburger started serving Texas-sized burgers from a small stand in Corpus Christi.
The anniversary push comes with more than just a cheap meal.
The brand is also rolling out new collectible Commemorative Cups every Monday starting August 5, each one tied to Whataburger’s visual past.
Designs include a 75th table tent cup, a silver-striped version, and one paying tribute to the restaurant’s iconic A-frame roof.
“Whataburger’s story has always been one about people," said Whataburger President and CEO Debbie Stroud.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we’re not just marking time - we’re honoring the memories, the traditions, and the quality experiences that keep folks coming back. This anniversary is our way of saying thank you.
Beyond the promotions, the campaign also includes “75 Stories for 75 Years,” a yearlong content series highlighting customer memories, and the revival of fan-favorite items through the WhataVault.
It all adds up to a nostalgia-driven celebration tied closely to the brand's rich history.
How the Celebration Comes to Life
In Corpus Christi, the brand is going all in with an “Orange Out” night at Whataburger Field on August 8.
Fans are invited to dress in head-to-toe orange to cheer on the "Corpus Christi Hooks," who will suit up for one night only as the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits in a matchup against the Tulsa Drillers.
The first 1,500 attendees will get a Whataguy face mask, and the next 5,000 will receive bright orange Whataguy superhero capes.
After the game, a fireworks show will cap off the evening.
As fans leave, they’ll also get a free Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit coupon.

Whataburger is also extending the anniversary into fall and winter through continued merch drops on Whatastore.com, keeping the birthday momentum going long after the last firework.
The combination of local fanfare, digital exclusives, and collectible drops all becomes a clear attempt to reinforce loyalty at physical, digital, and emotional touchpoints.
Our Take: Can Simplicity Still Win?
Whataburger's latest 75th anniversary campaign is clean, focused, and tied directly to what fans already care about.
That's where its charm lies.
The burger joint tied its anniversary to a simple trio: a cheap burger, collectible merch, and a meaningful local event.
And in a time when fast food brands are chasing clout with absurdist stunts or confusing limited-time menus, it's a reminder consistency can still cut through.
If your brand has equity, nostalgia doesn’t need to be dressed up.
It just needs a reason to come back to the table.
