British subscription film service Sky Cinema just unveiled its new Christmas platform, which celebrates iconic holiday films.
"Movies Makes Christmas" is marked by a heartwarming one-minute spot titled "The Little Girl," where a young lady finds inspiration from Christmas films she'd watched to ask a young boy out to the movies.
It features timeless holiday flicks viewers can watch with Sky, including "Elf," "It's A Wonderful Life," and more.
Notably, the spot aims to tout the two free Vue Cinema tickets subscribers can get from the service this holiday season.
The latest initiative from Sky follows the widespread success of its Christmas campaign last year, which also featured beloved films Sky customers can watch with their subscriptions.
This year, the media giant is harping on the same formula, albeit with a fresh and touching narrative to lift audiences' spirits this holiday season.
"Movies are an integral part of the festive season and we wanted to celebrate the iconic film moments on Sky Cinema whilst celebrating our partnership with Vue Cinemas. We can’t wait to spread the joy," Sky and Now Director of Movies Marketing Jamie Schwartz explained.
Sky Creative Group ECD Advertising Robin Garton reinforced these sentiments, saying the narrative arc, protagonist, jeopardy, and triumph are all the ingredients of great storytelling.
Truly, this latest effort from the service is what makes for effective brand storytelling — capturing the hearts of many and driving emotional engagement this holiday season.
The Tale of the Little Girl
The one-minute spot kickstarts with the little girl watching her favorite Christmas movies at home.
Throughout the spot, we see films like "Elf," "Wonka," and "The Holiday," with the girl repeating iconic lines from different scenes.
One day, she goes to school and approaches a young boy.
Using the lines she had stitched from the films, she tells him, "I feel warm around you. I'll give you the moon. Come with me to the cinema, if you'll have me."
She then takes out two Vue cinema tickets and gives the boy a wink.

The young boy happily takes the offer, and they both smile.
The spot ends with Sky Cinema touting its Vue partnership and the two free tickets subscribers can get every month.
Previously, Verizon and Barbie teamed up to turn the DreamHouse into the StreamHouse for the communications and technology company's holiday campaign.
