Trading card company Topps has just unveiled "Chrome Rush," a new campaign to celebrate the start of its 2024 MVP Buyback Program.
Led by creative agency BSSP and directed by Brother Willis, the effort sends a cast of certified MLB legends into the Wild West for a cowboy-inspired caper.
The star-studded spot features David Ortiz, Frank Thomas, Pedro Martinez, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., and Rollie Fingers as they traverse the vast American terrain in search of precious treasure: 2024 Topps Chrome MVP cards.

As part of the Topps MVP Buyback Program, customers who manage to find cards of this year's MVP candidates will be given the chance to trade them in for store credit at different tiers ranging from $20 to $200.
The program runs until January 30, 2025.
Topps' trade-in program gives collectors an incentive to hunt for cards they wouldn't normally search for.
By engaging fans and adding new value to old cards, the trading card company's creative marketing strategy keeps audiences excited and engaged.
Everybody, Say 'Yeehaw!'
A minute-long spot begins in the middle of a desert "somewhere out west."
Baseball legend David "Big Papi" Ortiz pans for precious minerals by the side of a creek and discovers Topps Chrome cards of MVP candidates Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge.

Whooping with joy, he takes them down to Big Hurt's Trading Post, where MLB Hall of Famer Thomas hangs out with Martinez, Rollie Fingers, and Guerrero Sr.
Ortiz trades in his two newly found cards, receiving a big bag of gold (store credit) in return.
The spot ends on a funny note, with everyone in the building whooping for joy.
Earlier in May, Topps also launched a humorous ad for its UEFA Euro 2024 Match Attax series starring retired football player José Mourinho.
