Fresha is giving beauty and wellness businesses another way to secure higher-value bookings.

But the option costs U.S. merchants 5.99% plus 30 cents per transaction.

The booking platform announced a global partnership with Klarna on Nov. 2, 2026.

It adds buy now, pay later (BNPL) options to its booking and checkout experience.

Clients can use Klarna to pay for appointments, treatment plans, memberships, and packages.

Businesses can activate the payment method through Fresha's new Payment Methods settings.

"Klarna helps remove barriers to booking by giving consumers more flexibility in how they pay, while helping businesses improve conversion, strengthen client retention, and build lasting customer relationships.

"Bringing Klarna directly into Fresha allows our partners to offer that flexibility through a seamless experience," Fresha Founder and CEO William Zeqiri said in a press release.

The integration arrives as Fresha expands its financial services business.

Its Capital lending program has issued more than $20 million in loans since launching in early 2026.

But Fresha's U.S. pricing lists Klarna at 2.15 times the online card rate.

Salons must now weigh the potential booking benefits against the additional processing cost.

Fresha now sells booking, card processing, loans, and installments in one app, the same stack that Block offers merchants through Square and Afterpay.

Klarna Adds Flexibility to Fresha's Checkout

Fresha integrated Klarna directly into its booking and checkout process. Clients can select Klarna without leaving the platform.

Eligible customers can choose interest-free payment options for services and purchases.

These include advanced skincare, laser treatments, aesthetic procedures, premium hair services, and wellness programs.

"Consumers today are investing more intentionally in beauty and wellness than ever before," said Annabelle Taurua, Beauty Expert at Fresha.

"People increasingly view these experiences as ongoing investments in themselves rather than one-off purchases."

"Klarna gives consumers greater flexibility to access the treatments and services they want while helping make self-care more accessible and achievable."

The integration also adds another payment option to Fresha Pay, which already supports major card networks and digital wallets.

Fresha serves more than 140,000 partner businesses across over 120 countries.

Its marketplace records more than $1.4 billion in monthly transaction value, according to the company.

The partnership gives these businesses access to Klarna through existing booking software.

It also gives Fresha another financial service to offer within its platform.

More than 80% of Fresha Capital borrowers have already returned for additional financing.

Every financial product that Fresha adds makes its software harder for a salon to replace.

The partnership also works like co-branding, putting a payment name that consumers already recognize inside Fresha’s checkout.

Klarna Fees Exceed Online Card Rates

Fresha's U.S. pricing page lists Klarna at 5.99% plus 30 cents per transaction.

Online card payments cost 2.79% plus 20 cents.

The difference matters because businesses must generate enough additional value to justify the higher processing fee.

On a $1,200 laser package, Klarna costs the salon about $72, while an online card payment costs about $34.

Fresha's help center states that salons receive the full payment in their Fresha Wallet right away, while clients pay Klarna over time.

Agencies advising beauty clients can treat the roughly $38 gap as a customer acquisition cost when they set a salon's pricing strategy.

Three lessons stand out for companies selling services through digital booking platforms.

  • Payment choice affects conversion economics. Businesses should compare processing fees with booking value to identify which payment options justify their cost.
  • Integrated finance deepens platform relationships. Software providers should connect payments, lending, and customer management to increase the services businesses use.
  • Higher-value services need flexible checkout options. Marketers should promote installment payments to reduce upfront payment friction.

Payment flexibility can support higher-value purchases, but merchants need transaction data to establish profitable demand.

Our Take: Can BNPL Make Higher Fees Worth Paying?

Installment payments can justify higher processing fees when they generate additional sales.

We'd consider Klarna's 5.99% fee on Fresha worth paying only for bookings that a salon can prove it would have otherwise lost.

The risk for agencies is reporting Klarna checkouts as campaign wins when existing customers simply switched payment methods.

Laser packages give agencies a cleaner test, since smaller payments on a $1,200 treatment can change a client's decision.

On a $40 blowout, a Klarna promotion mostly hands it a cut of a sale the salon already had in the bag.

Platforms adding financial services should give merchants a report that separates incremental bookings from payment preferences.

Agencies working with salons should promote Klarna on high-ticket treatments and judge it by completed bookings and average transaction value.

Fresha's Klarna rollout lines up with how younger consumers are paying this holiday season.

Gen Z shoppers are using BNPL services more often for holiday purchases, especially big-ticket ones.
