Fantastic Four x Fortnite: Key Findings

Marvel is set to add Reed, Sue, and Johnny Storm as playable Fortnite skins with special powers, according to a recent leak.
Players may also get a free, in-game “Fantasticar” vehicle as part of the rumored update.
Fantastic Four maintains strong cross-platform marketing momentum before July film.

The Fantastic Four is set to land in Fortnite — and they won't come quietly.

Marvel is ramping up promotion for the July 25 release of “Fantastic Four: First Steps.”

A major in-game update for Fortnite has leaked online, suggesting that the iconic superhero team is the next to get the battle royale treatment.

The leak was first revealed by prominent leaker "HYPEX" on X, who said that the collab would come in the next update.

According to "Shiina," another renowned leaker, characters Reed Richards, Susan Storm, and Johnny Storm are expected to drop as playable skins.

Each character skin is rumored to have its own animated feature and signature effect.

These include Reed’s “Fantastic Fists,” Sue’s “Psionic Orbs,” and Johnny’s “Torch’s Flame.”

"Torch's Flame shows a different style when equipped with Johnny Storm outfit," Shiina shares in the post.

The only member missing for now is Ben Grimm, better known as "The Thing."

Also rumored is the inclusion of a new “collaboration” vehicle, likely the "Fantasticar," which could appear as a free unlockable item.

While Epic Games hasn’t officially confirmed the update, the leaks suggest the content will go live with the game’s 36.20 patch on July 15.

None of this is official yet, but the sources behind the leaks have a strong track record, with the timing aligning perfectly with Marvel’s ongoing marketing strategy to build anticipation for the film.

More Than a Skin Drop

The Fortnite crossover is the latest move in a wider campaign that’s been gaining attention across media platforms.

From Marvel’s Zillow partnership that listed the Baxter Building as a “real” home to skywriting stunts and in-world Pop-Tarts ads, the Fantastic Four are having their strongest marketing year in recent memory.

With over 500 million registered Fortnite users globally, the tie-in gives Marvel instant reach and cultural cachet.

The skins not only let players embody the heroes, but also keep the film top of mind among Gen Z fans, which is a key demographic for both brands.

Activations like these show Marvel taking a more flexible and playful approach to movie promotion.

The success of the Zillow stunt proved that fans enjoy these tongue-in-cheek crossovers, while the rumored Fortnite update doubles down on Marvel’s digital-first mindset.

Like previous Marvel content in Fortnite, such collaborations typically offer exclusive gameplay effects, rewards, or challenges tied to the franchise.

Meanwhile, the marketing for “Fantastic Four: First Steps” has shown rare consistency and creativity.

It's looking to be a cornerstone of the brand’s next cinematic phase.
