Smart security company Ring announced on Monday a new partnership with actress Drew Barrymore to launch a heartwarming campaign aimed at raising $500,000 to support animal shelters across the U.S.
The “Ring Pet Portraits” campaign seeks to raise awareness for pet adoption and the importance of the human-animal bond.
And what better way to help the cause than teaming up with a popular celebrity who is already an animal advocate and pet mom of seven?
“There’s just this like, unspoken relationship that you have this connection, this constant companion, this love that is just so profound,” Barrymore told CNN.
“My dogs sleep in my bed with me and so do my cats and it makes me feel like a whole human being,” she added.
Barrymore’s beloved pooch Douglas, who has appeared numerous times in episodes of her self-titled talk show on CBS, plays a central role in the campaign.

Barrymore and Douglas star in a just-released 90-second spot, showing the host and her pet on an intimate date in a restaurant.
The commercial opens with the actress showing a deep appreciation and love for her date, who turns out to be Douglas.
Barrymore then gets to the point, reminding her pooch how she told him she was going to submit his photo to Ring for its pet commercial contest and detailing how the company is going to donate up to half a million dollars for animals in need.
“No, Douglas, I can’t submit a photo of you because you’re a “nepo puppy. I can’t even submit a photo of Jeremy,” Barrymore breaks the bad news, apologizing to her bearded dragon on a video call via Ring’s pet cam.
Another diner then interrupts, asking if Ring’s campaign only includes dogs and lizards, to which the “E.T.” star replies, “All pets are welcome.”

The woman then reveals she has 12 cats. And while she’s enumerating her cats’ names, a man butts in showing off his French Bulldog.
“Oh, my Frenchie! That’s the cutest dog in the world,” Barrymore says, offending Douglas.
The spot closes with the actress running after Douglas, who walked out.
“I'm honored to join Ring on this important mission, celebrate the special bonds and pride pet parents have for their animals, and help generate donations to the ASPCA and local animal shelters,” the actress said in a press release.
How to Make Ring’s $500K Pledge a Reality
Every time someone posts a photo or video of their pet on Instagram or TikTok using the hashtag #RingPets, Ring will donate $10 to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and local animal shelters.
"Every year, approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide, and now more than ever it's a great time to support your local shelter by opening your heart and home to an animal in need," ASPCA President and CEO Matt Bershadker shared.
Ring has pledged up to $100,000 to the ASPCA and $400,000 to shelters across the U.S. All it takes to make this become a reality are 50,000 posts.
Get Your Pet to Star in a Ring Commercial
Through the campaign, pet parents are encouraged to share special moments with their pets using Ring's innovative features such as two-way talk and the pan-tilt indoor cam.
Pet owners can also use other devices (not only limited to Ring ones) to take a photo and record a video (60 seconds or less), and by tagging their posts with #RingPets and #contest, they count as official entries to the contest.

The winner will be chosen by Barrymore and the ASPCA and will star alongside the talk show host in an upcoming Ring commercial.

The “Ring Pet Portraits” initiative runs from May 13 to June 14.
