Supercell's Clash of Clans has unveiled a new in-game experience that serves as a treat for fans of true crime and podcasts.
Helmed by creative boutique David New York, the new campaign harps on the fan-favorite event Hammer Jam — only this time, the Hammer disappears.
With the future of the event at stake, players and investigators are invited to solve the crime and unravel the truths behind its disappearance.
To ramp up excitement, the game has teamed up with Forensic Psychologist Dr. Lesie Dobson to make a guest appearance in an all-new special edition podcast series titled "Hammerless: A True Crime Podcast."
Through the four-part series, players can gather clues and find the culprit.
DAVID New York CCO André Toledo expounded on the idea behind the initiative, saying true crime stories have been incredibly popular for building community and sparking discussions.
"Together with our Supercell partners, we created the first in-game true crime story: a four-episode podcast that follows the mystery of who stole the hammer in the village, inviting the community to share their theories to help recover the hammer and save Hammer Jam," Toledo explained.
Clash of Clans' latest brand marketing strategy engages its players by throwing an event that encourages conversation and collaboration.
By incorporating podcasts into the gaming experience, the game is able to create something unique and memorable for its loyal fanbase.
Who Did It?
A one-minute trailer promoting the event kickstarts with the Builder's humble beginnings, showing viewers how important the beloved Hammer has been to his life growing up.
However, one day, the Hammer just disappears.
Villagers panic amid its disappearance, with news headlines reporting the matter and questioning the future of Hammer Jam.

They then create theories on who the culprit might be: the archer suspects it "has to be the goblin," because "stealing is what they do."
Meanwhile, an anonymous witness accuses the witch, who he says "looks guilty."
"A stolen hammer. A shattered tradition. A village of suspects. Follow along and share your theories to find the hammer and save Hammer Jam," the narrator says, as the spot closes.
This year, Supercell has been marketing its games by partnering with big celebrities.
It previously launched a star-studded spot helmed by Uncommon Creative Studio, starring Chris Hemsworth, Ken Jeong, Christina Ricci, and more.
