Warner Bros. Pictures has collaborated with the nonprofit organization Coral Gardeners for a new digital initiative that helps restore decaying coral reefs through the help of Aquaman fans all over the world.
In the new "The Lost Colors" campaign, a trailer for the highly anticipated "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" has lost its colors — similar to the thousands of corals in the ocean currently bleaching and slowly dying due to climate change.
"Together with audiences around the world, we can take part in wildlife conservation by bringing corals’ vibrant colors back into the ocean," Xavier Petit, Head of EMEA Brand Partnerships at Warner Bros. Discovery said in a statement.
Through the campaign, viewers are called to restore the colors in the ocean simply by restoring the colors of the trailer by making a donation at thelostcolors.org.
The initiative aligns with Aquaman's mission to save Atlantis and protect ocean life, and just like the film's hero, viewers can also be superheroes by participating in the movement to save coral reefs.
"With the mission to revolutionize ocean conservation and create a global movement to save the world’s coral reefs through active reef restoration, we are very proud to partner with Warner Bros. on the release of the movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," Coral Gardeners CEO Titouan Bernicot explained.
Bernicot also shared that Jason Momoa, the real-life Aquaman, has been a longtime supporter of ocean conservation.
"He had the opportunity to discover our activities in French Polynesia and take part in coral gardening with us. He is not only a great actor embodying a Super Hero, he is also a true advocate for the ocean," Bernicot added.
The project will run from December 12 to December 22, and donors interested in supporting the cause will have the opportunity to watch the trailer restored in its full color.
Additionally, donors will be automatically entered into a contest to win an original art piece of Aquaman signed by the film's director, James Wan.
