The Muppets are making a comeback in an upcoming Super Bowl commercial from leading travel accommodation platform Booking.com.
Helmed by advertising agency Zulu Alpha Kilo NY, with media strategy and planning by Mindshare, the nostalgic and whimsical new spot marks the next chapter of the brand's "Booking.yeah" campaign.
Launched in 2022, it celebrates the many "YEAHs" people experience on their travels.
In a statement, Booking.com SVP and CMO Arjan Dijk explained how the campaign highlights the choice, ease, and value that the brand brings to each customer:
"By blending nostalgia, modern storytelling, and a bit of playful imagination, we're thrilled to share this with viewers during one of the year's biggest cultural moments in the US, inspiring Americans to plan their next trip with confidence and excitement, whatever their travel need may be."
According to research conducted by Booking.com, 62% of American travelers plan to use technology to create more personalized travel experiences this year.
Thanks to Booking.com's innovative features, including the recently-introduced AI Trip Planner, creating itineraries and finding attractions are a breeze.
The new effort will debut during the fourth quarter of the Big Game on February 9 with a 30-second spot.
This, alongside additional 15-second cuts and other creative assets, will run across TV, streaming, online video, audio, social, and owned channels.
Created in 1955 by Jim Henson, The Muppets have become cultural icons, capturing the hearts of audiences across generations.
By teaming up with such nostalgic and widely recognized characters, Booking.com taps into built-in audience affinity, making the campaign instantly engaging and memorable.
This strategy highlights how brand partnerships with beloved franchises can enhance consumer trust, differentiate marketing efforts, and create deeper emotional connections that drive business impact.
The Muppets Go On Vacation
The 30-second commercial treats viewers to a montage of fan-favorite Muppet characters having fun in a variety of different vacation settings.
Throughout the spot, a narrator discusses Booking.com's wide selection of accommodations, starting with a wide shot of a beach, then zooming in on Kermit the Frog playing his famous banjo.
Meanwhile, enjoying the sand and surf are sunbathing Miss Piggy alongside Animal, furiously digging in the sand.
Miss Piggy also shows up in an upscale hotel riding a luggage cart.
After several groups of travelers go through a series of transfers, the spot closes with the cantankerous duo Statler and Waldorf, who hate everything but love Booking.com's free cancellation policy.
Not to be forgotten, Gonzo shows up flying a jetpack at the very last second.
Last June, Topgolf also launched a campaign in collaboration with Jim Henson's Creature Shop.
Meanwhile, later in August, Booking.com teamed up with Ludacris to give lucky fans a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the artist's Atlanta mansion.
