Tyler, The Creator is taking over the front of FC Barcelona’s shirt for El Clásico.

The GOLF WANG logo, from the fashion label he founded, will appear on the jersey for the October 25 match against Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou.

FC Barcelona Femení will wear it first, in their Liga F match on October 24.

The effort marks the first time an artist was given full creative control in a brand partnership.

That control covers the audiovisual and graphic campaign, a short film directed by Tyler, a clothing collection, and a night of music in Barcelona.

"Every jersey takeover we've done has pushed us somewhere new, but this one feels different," said Marc Hazan, Senior VP of Marketing & Partnerships at Spotify.

"Tyler brings a distinct creative world to the collaboration, extending far beyond the jersey."

Nike joins the project with its own collection, which it describes as a way to take football beyond the pitch by connecting it with music, fashion and creativity.

FC Barcelona’s Joan Soler said the club is "building on an initiative that has become part of the anticipation surrounding this match and enables us to reach audiences around the world."

Gothic Quarter Pop-Up to Camp Nou

The 11-piece Nike x FC Barcelona x GOLF WANG collection went live October 15, merging the club’s brand identity with Tyler’s creative universe.

Spotify’s collection adds a letterman jacket, a track jacket, and retro jerseys, including 1,899 limited-edition jerseys.

In Barcelona, Nike, FC Barcelona and Spotify opened (The) Creator’s Àgora at Carrer de Boters, 4, in the Gothic Quarter, where a program directed by local artist Daniel2000 runs through October 25.

Visitors can do multiple activities, like:

  • Seeing a sculptural installation by Sofía Alazraki that works pieces from the collection into the art
  • Browsing a photography gallery
  • Hearing DJ sets from John Heaven, Nil Fee and Yung Prado
  • Buying the collection on site

On October 24, Spotify hosts Copa De Golf, with Yung Taco headlining a DJ set alongside Bexnil, Alu, duna and Mushkaa.

FC Barcelona Femení wears the jersey that day, and gamers can pick the kit in KONAMI eFootball.

Both Partners Report Growth Ahead of Clásico

The shirt takeover carries two growing businesses into El Clásico.

Spotify reported 777 million monthly active users in its Q2 2026 update, up 12% from a year earlier, with 300 million subscribers.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona topped €1 billion in revenue for the first time in 2025-26, after record sponsorship income of €259 million in 2024-25.

How we see things is that Spotify supplies the listeners, and the club supplies the sales channels.

It's no surprise Spotify has run this play before, with Tyler clocking in as the ninth artist in the series.

Olivia Rodrigo’s May takeover came with a Billions Club Live show in Barcelona, a playlist and 1,899 limited jerseys.

And while her rollout leaned on one live show, Tyler’s adds a retail space, an art program, and two clothing collections, putting the design brief in the hands of the artist himself.

Three lessons stand out for marketers:

  • Share creative control: GOLF WANG shaped the visuals, collection, and event, so its fans can claim the shirt as part of their world.
  • Sell inside the story: The Àgora places the collection beside installations and DJ sets, allowing buying to happen mid-visit.
  • Stack the release dates: The women’s match, Copa De Golf and Clásico give press and social feeds a new story each day.

A sponsor shirt with one photo call and one match day has a lifespan of a weekend.

However, one design across a shirt, a store, a club night, and a game gives a campaign four chances to land and interact with fans in multiple ways.

Our Take: Why Do Music and Football Keep Finding Each Other?

Both worlds run on devotion.

A football crowd sings the same songs for 90 minutes, and a Tyler fan knows every word of an album.

In both scenarios, though completely different, understands what it means to show up loud.

We think the value sits in an overlap that rarely exists.

You have a Barça supporter who has never played a Tyler record, and a Tyler listener who has never watched a Clásico.

Putting one name on the other’s shirt gives both of them a reason to look.

For the club, that reaches fans far from Barcelona who first came for the music.

For the artist, it puts his work in front of a stadium’s worth of new listeners.

Human-driven stories always capture the hearts of the audience.
