Marriott Bonvoy Boutiques is bringing hotel interiors into your home.

The hotel unveiled its new Design Shop, a home and lifestyle collection inspired by spaces across its portfolio.

The first collections feature more than 75 pieces from W Hotels Living and Westin Living, including designs modeled after W New York – Union Square.

This move extends Marriott's reach into the lifestyle retail category as hospitality aesthetics continue to tap into growing consumer interest.

Future collections inspired by the French Riviera and JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo are also scheduled for launch later this year.

"Hospitality doesn't end at check-out anymore," Peggy Roe, executive VP and chief customer officer at Marriott International, said in a press release.

"Design Shop reflects how we're expanding the role of our hotels and destinations from places you stay to sources of inspiration you choose to live with."

The expansion gives Marriott another way to turn brand affinity into long-term consumer spending outside of hotel bookings.

W Hotels and Westin Define the Collections

W Hotels Living draws directly from W New York – Union Square, redesigned by Rockwell Group.

The collection features upholstered platform beds, sculptural lighting, glass décor, and color-blocked accents that mirror the hotel's visual identity.

Westin Living, on the other hand, takes a quieter approach rooted in wellness and restoration.

Neutral palettes, minimalist wood furniture, and earth-toned accessories connect directly to its long-running sleep and recovery positioning.

The Design Shop gives Marriott another way to monetize its brand equity while extending the emotional connection guests form with hotel spaces.

Hotel Brands Chase Lifestyle Revenue

Hospitality companies are treating physical spaces as retail platforms as lifestyle branding, hospitality, and commerce become more connected.

Brands and hotel operators have tested shoppable environments where guests can buy furniture and décor tied to the stay.

As reported in Hotel News Resource, Anthropologie has experimented with fully purchasable hotel-style spaces.

Armani Hotels and RH Guesthouse have also integrated retail directly into the guest experience.

Marriott Bonvoy’s Design Shop follows an industry trend where hotels are now immersive retail environments that sell aspiration, wellness, and identity.

  • Emotional connection drives purchasing behavior. Brands should attach products to a memory to strengthen long-term consumer loyalty.
  • Hotel spaces create built-in product testing. Companies should place products inside lived experiences to increase familiarity and conversion.
  • Retail integration opens new revenue streams. Hotel operators should expand curated offerings to generate new income streams.

The overlap between hospitality, retail, and branding suggests future hotel revenue may depend on lifestyle relevance as much as occupancy.

Our Take: Can Hotel Brands Win in Home Retail?

Yes, but only if the products carry the same emotional pull as the hotel stay.

Consumers already connect hotels with aspiration, comfort, and escapism, which creates a natural path into home retail.

Marriott's advantage comes from its portfolio variety, allowing different hotel identities to appeal to different design tastes and spending habits.

Still, brand recognition alone will not sustain demand.

Poor quality, generic styling, or pricing disconnected from consumer expectations could quickly weaken the appeal.

We could see more hospitality companies pursue home collections as travel brands search for more stable revenue streams in a volatile economy.

And Marriott is already moving in this direction across multiple fronts, having also partnered with Visa for its "For Fans, Everywhere" World Cup campaign.

Hotel brands looking to expand into lifestyle retail may need partners with brand positioning expertise.
