LeBron James, Jason Sudeikis Star in New Taco Bell Campaign

Taco Bell has rolled out its new campaign celebrating "Taco Tuesday," enlisting once again the help of NBA legend LeBron James and American actor and comedian Jason Sudeikis to promote its bang-for-the-buck offerings. 

Sudeikis and James are both known to be fans of Taco Bell. This latest campaign combines the two stars' love of tacos with the launch of a 30-second spot.

"Taco Twosday" kicks off with Sudeikis and James enjoying their tacos, wondering if there's something new they can try out. 

A dream sequence then ensues, beginning with a catchy '90s opening theme and a sitcom-styled introduction of James and Sudeikis as two best friends "wanting to try something new." 

However, they aren't the only stars of the show — the ad also zones in on Taco Bell's new Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco, which steals the spotlight from the two. 

Throughout the short montage of playful 90s sitcom clips, James and Sudeikis paint a taco on canvas, rollerblade around the house, and unleash the "Tacobot 5000."

The spot concludes with the daydream abruptly ending, and James admits that the sitcom jingle was at the very least catchy. 

Taco Bell Launches $5 Taco Discovery Box

As part of the campaign, the restaurant chain has unveiled its new $5 Taco Discovery Box, giving customers the chance to enjoy old favorites and discover new ones. 

It comes with the Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco, two taco classics, and a medium fountain drink, and will be available every Tuesday starting April 23 until June 4.

"We should all strive to try something new on Tuesdays whether it's a new taco, a different combination of your favorites or simply stepping out of our comfort zones during the week," shared Sudeikis in a press statement.

In 2023, James joined forces with the fast-food giant in liberating the phrase "Taco Tuesday" through a legal campaign that sought to cancel the federal trademark registrations for the term.

This came alongside a spot starring the Lakers power forward titled "Taco Bleep," which helped bring awareness to the cause.

At present, "Taco Tuesday" is no longer legally bound to a single entity, and can finally be used by the Tex-Mex restaurant. Taco Bell CMO Taylor Montgomery shares that last year's liberation was only the start.
