Garfield Is Motel 6's Chief Pet Officer in New Campaign

Motel 6 has appointed Garfield as its first-ever "Chief Pet Officer" in an exciting new campaign.

As the official hotel partner of the upcoming "The Garfield Movie," the motel chain and the iconic orange tabby cat are enacting several marketing initiatives that bring the hype for its theatrical release.

Part of these initiatives include a Garfield-themed premium suite located at Motel 6 Hollywood, turning the room into an "orange oasis," and allowing pets to stay the night with their owners. 

Inside, visitors can find walls of orange fur and stripe prints, a cat tree, and other pet amenities to make sure your pet's stay is fun and safe. 

"The Garfield Movie" themed Suite can be booked starting May 21 through mid-June and will be available across 10 Motel 6 branches nationwide. 

To make guests and their pets feel even more welcome, the company has also launched the free discount program "My6" which gives members 6% off their Motel 6 stays and access to various pet-related and travel benefits. 

"Through this creative and impressive campaign, Motel 6 will certainly raise the bar for the ultimate pet experience with Garfield's high standard seal of approval," Jeffrey Godsick, Sony Pictures Entertainment's executive VP of global partnerships and brand management, said in a press release.

Movie Sweepstakes

Motel 6 is giving pet owners a chance to catch the world premiere of "The Garfield Movie" on May 19 in Los Angeles with a special sweepstakes promo. 

One lucky raffle winner and up to three guests will win exclusive tickets to the premiere, round-trip flights, and a two-night stay in the premium suite. 

Meanwhile, 20 runners-up will receive a $25 gift card and a free one-night stay at Motel 6 in their location of choice. 

Adam Cannon, chief brand officer of Motel 6 parent company G6 Hospitality, shared his excitement with the launch of the campaign.

"Motel 6 has been welcoming pets for free for more than 60 years and is one of the top reasons guests stay with us. Garfield will help take our love of our four-legged friends to the next level."

"The Garfield Movie," starring Chris Pratt and Nicholas Hault, is out in theaters on May 24.
