Nike and luxury brand Jacquemus have teamed up for a new collection this fall and winter season, kicking things off with an epic short film directed by none other than Simon Porte Jacquemus himself.
Marking the French designer's directorial debut for Nike, the two-minute spot takes place in the heart of Paris, and showcases a handful of popular personalities sporting pieces from the new collab.
It kicks off with vignettes of the city's popular landscapes before British rapper Central Cee and his dog are seen lying on the bed. Soon after, we see model Reign Judge being carried by two removal men as she sits comfortably on a couch.
Other absurdities, alongside more guest appearances, grace viewers. These include cameos from:
- Rina Sawayama
- Serena Williams
- Manu Rios
- Amina Muaddi
- Carine Roitfield
- La Grande Dame and more
It's a spot where personalities from a wide array of industries — including music, sports, and fashion — come together to celebrate the grand vision of a highly acclaimed designer, now director.
The Makings of the Movie
Jacquemus, who took an interest in Nike TV commercials at a young age, said he started the conversation with the brand directly to discuss the makings of a movie to present his new collection.
"When I start working on a show, I always draw scenes and recreate images from my memories and obsessions. It was the same process here, even if it was a movie," Jacquemus told Vogue.
Inspired by mid-century French director Jacques Tati, Jacquemus' latest film also serves as an ode to the upcoming Paris Olympics, which officially kicks off on July 26.
For the 34-year-old designer, the ultimate goal of his campaign was to collaborate with one of sports' biggest events, with elements containing "something blue, white, red" to reference the French flag.
“I started to draw crazy ideas about Paris, my own vision of it. I drew around 80 scenes and we decided to do the full video," the designer shared.
Behind the Collection
The Nike and Jacquemus summer collection will include 10 pieces that include two new Air Max 1 colorways, skirts, sports bras, and tracksuits — most of which aptly reference the French flag.
"For me, the most important thing was to represent France and its best talents, culture, and history," Jacquemus shared.
