INFINITI Unveils the 2027 QX65 With NFL Stars at Grand Central

The All-New 2027 INFINITI QX65 Launch: Key Findings

The automaker revealed its latest model at Grand Central Terminal, hosted by NFL stars Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman.
The fastback SUV takes design cues from the FX, with a 268-horsepower VC-Turbo engine and a dramatic arching roofline.
The Sunfire Red paint uses real gold-coated glass flecks across a three-layer finish, giving the launch a specific visual story.

INFINITI has unveiled the all-new 2027 QX65, its new fastback luxury SUV.

The brand's latest vehicle made its global debut at Grand Central Terminal in New York City, on March 26.

The reveal was hosted by Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman, bringing familiar faces from the NFL into the launch.

This choice of venue and talent is bound to bring INFINITI back into cultural conversation.

The QX65 will arrive at retailers in early summer 2026, with the LUXE trim priced from $53,990 and the AUTOGRAPH trim starting at $62,590.

A Nameplate With History

The QX65 draws direct inspiration from INFINITI's FX model.

This was a crossover vehicle, which earned a strong following for its fastback silhouette and driver-focused character when it launched in the early 2000s.

Available in Sunfire Red paint, it uses genuine gold-coated glass flecks across a three-layer finish, giving the brand a specific visual story to tell.

The QX65 is manufactured in Smyrna, Tennessee, placing production closer to its core market and giving the launch a clearer cnnection to U.S. buyers.

Product Specs That Stand Out

The 2027 QX65 runs a Variable Compression Turbo engine producing 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque.

This is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and standard Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

Interior technology also includes dual 12.3-inch displays with Google built in, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

The AUTOGRAPH grade also features Individual Audio, which uses headrest speakers to direct sound to the driver and front passenger separately.

This detail gives the feature a genuine product differentiator in the premium car segment.

Alfonso Albaisa, INFINITI's senior vice president for global design, highlighted how the QX65 further supports the company's brand positioning.

"QX65 builds on the nearly four-decade history of INFINITI creativity and shakes up the midsize SUV segment with a passionate, sporty fastback that injects fresh energy into luxury vehicle design," he said in a statement.

"With its arched roofline, dazzling gold-flecked paint and powerfully refined interior, the all-new QX65 entices and rewards drivers who seek to make every day remarkable."

Notably, INFINITI has delivered fewer than 80,000 vehicles annually in the U.S. since 2020.

This makes the QX65 launch one of the more consequential moves the brand has made in years.

The 2027 QX65 reveal offers a few tips brands can apply across automotive and premium product launches:

  • Revive the brand equity: INFINITI built the QX65 around what made the FX compelling, giving returning fans a reason to pay attention.
  • Use launch talent to broaden the brand's appeal: Gronkowski and Edelman bring the new model into sports and lifestyle conversations.
  • Give the press a specific detail to anchor coverage: The Sunfire Red paint with gold flecks is a product story that travels well.

These choices show how a launch can carry memory and momentum, giving the product a clearer entry point in a tight premium segment.

Our Take: Is This the Right Move for INFINITI?

We think so, and the timing of the new model's launch also makes sense.

INFINITI has struggled to maintain the cultural relevance it had when the FX first launched.

A fastback luxury SUV with genuine design ambition gives the brand a stronger re-entry point.

The specs and the design give dealers a strong brand narrative.

And early summer availability means the QX65 will hit showrooms during a period when SUV consideration tends to peak.

This direction also aligns with the brand's effort to rebuild momentum with design-led products, as shared by INFINITI Marketing and Communications Lead Shelley Pratt in a DesignRush Podcast.
