Toyota Shows Us 'What Matters Most' In Heartfelt Campaign from Saatchi & Saatchi

Toyota Shows Us 'What Matters Most' In Heartfelt Campaign from Saatchi & Saatchi

Toyota, alongside creative agency Saatchi & Saatchi, has unveiled "For What Matters Most," a brand platform designed to deepen emotional ties with Canadians.

Marking its 60th anniversary in Canada, the initiative reframes Toyota’s core values — quality, durability, and reliability — through a more personal lens, highlighting the moments that matter most in its customers’ lives.

Cyril Dimitris, vice president for sales and marketing at Toyota Canada, emphasized that while buying a car is a rational decision, it is also an emotional one:

"That’s why our goal is to help build the confidence for Canadians to take on any road ahead, so that they can connect to the people, places and things that matter most to them."

Meanwhile, Saatchi & Saatchi Executive Creative Director Rob Grendon explained how the campaign is meant to connect with its audiences on a more human level.

"Toyota has always been a trusted part of Canadians’ lives, and our approach was to bring that connection to life through relatable stories that reflect meaningful everyday moments and milestones."

The campaign includes a manifesto and is rolling out across TV, cinema, digital platforms, social media, out-of-home advertising, and toyota.ca, with additional phases planned.

Creative agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi play a key role in crafting campaigns that resonate emotionally, using storytelling to form deeper connections with audiences.

By highlighting a brand identity rooted in values, such campaigns amplify trust and reliability, positioning Toyota as an integral part of customers' lives.

What Matters Most

The first spot opens with two young girls, and when one has to move away, she gives her friend a friendship bracelet, promising, "I'll never forget you."

Years later, now adults, the girl returns to visit her childhood friend. Her friend picks her up in a Toyota, and they share a heartfelt moment, showing each other that they’ve kept their friendship bracelets all these years.

The girl’s family warmly welcomes her friend back as if she were a daughter, and they spend time together, laughing and reminiscing.

When it’s time to part, the friends share a long hug, embodying the bond they’ve cherished over the years and the message, "It matters to you. It matters to us," as the Toyota logo appears.

The second ad opens with a group of friends leaving their homes and saying goodbye to their families as they head out to spend time together.

In a Toyota, they pick up each friend along the way, enjoying typical teenage activities like grabbing food and hanging out.

The scenery changes as day turns to night, and a mother waits for her son to return home after a long day.

The spot ends with the message, "Their safety is important, especially when you can't be there. It matters to you, it matters to us."

In the third commercial, a young girl is shown in school, playing with toy cars as she eagerly waits for the bell to ring.

When the bell signals recess, she rushes outside and plays with her toy car, driving it through puddles and over small rocks.

Back in class, she proudly shares her toy car during Show and Tell, capturing the attention of her classmates.

The spot transitions to various scenes of the toy car navigating rugged roads, crossing a river in the forest, traveling through desert landscapes, and even leaping through the air.

The class applauds her storytelling, and as the young girl runs out to meet her dad, a female voiceover says, "Adventures that stay with you long after they end. It matters to you, it matters to us."

Aside from pulling on heartstrings, Toyota also recently launched a campaign that celebrated diversity among its customer base.
