Totino's Pizza Rolls is back with another bizarre brand campaign — this time starring an alien named Chazmo.
Helmed by agency Dentsu Creative, the new campaign is marked by a series of spots starring comedians Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson as two dads who encounter the alien who just so happens to have a thing for pizza rolls with great value.
The two bring their own brand of comedy into the commercials, all while aligning with the absurd, yet undeniably hilarious brand identity of Totino's.
Apart from the laughs, the adverts seek to tout the affordability of the famous snack, as consumers can get 10 Totino's Pizza Rolls for about $1.
Totino's Brand Experience Manager Taylor Roseberry speaks on the campaign and praises the chemistry of the two comedy kings.
"The spots were created by this talented group of comedic geniuses who have worked together for years. We wanted the on-screen chemistry to come through and capture the fun and excitement of the Totino’s brand. We can’t wait for fans to see Tim and Sam bring their signature blend of absurdity, physical comedy, and sharp wit to the world of Totino’s Pizza Rolls," Roseberry explains.
This comedic and surrealist approach to its brand voice is an effective way to resonate with younger audiences, capturing their attention and making Totino's affordable snack options known to them.
Creative agencies specializing in brand storytelling can play a crucial role in shaping campaigns that authentically connect with target demographics.
Don't Argue with an Alien
Made together with writer Zach Kanina and director Alice Mathias, the series of spots all follow the same premise, where Robinson and Richardson come across the alien who had finished all their Totino's Pizza Rolls.
In the 30-second hero spot, Robinson asks Chazmo if he has any plans of paying them back for finishing their Totino's snack before he heads back to his planet.
Chazmo argues that 10 pizza rolls are only about a dollar, and finds it strange that the two are charging him for finishing a pack.
"Do you have any plans of paying us back about a dollar for everything you ate?" Robinsons responds.
However, deviating from the topic, Chazmo denies that his name is even Chazmo, as names aren't a big deal where he's from.
The spot ends with Richardson telling the alien to have a name the next time he comes back to Earth, as viewers get a shot of the product.
In a shorter 15-second spot, Robinson shouts at the alien for finishing all his pizza rolls, claiming that it all cost "About 100 bucks."
"No, Totino's pizza rolls are 10 for about a dollar," Chazmo argues.
Richardson then asks the alien for a dollar, to which he responds with "Why do you even care?"
The spot ends with Robinson just admitting to wanting something from an alien.
Previously, Dentsu and Totino's launched two bizarre spots to promote the brand's breakfast snack bites.
