While the boiling settings may vary, the ad ends with a reminder for viewers that 80 degrees — not 100 — is enough to brew the perfect cup of Nescafé.

Nescafé’s Effort for the Planet

Apart from its heartwarming tone sure to tug viewers' heartstrings, the new short film from the coffee giant aims to let you know that small changes,  like reducing the time it takes to boil coffee, can have a big positive impact on the environment.

"Sustainability has always been at the heart of Nescafé’s mission," Tracey Cooke, CMO and SVP at Nestlé Canada said in a statement.

"Our brand's origin story exemplifies this commitment, born out of a desire to reduce waste, while also preserving the delicious taste of coffee [...] With '80 Degrees,' we hope our consumers will see that even small, repeated efforts can create meaningful change in the world."

According to the company, an estimated 5,700 cups of coffee are consumed around the world every second.

If all these cups were brewed at 80 instead of 100, a lot of energy could be saved.

"Nescafé is already such an integral part of billions of people’s daily routines. And at that scale, even a small sustainable action can have a massive impact," concluded Dhaval Bhatt, founder of Courage.
