Beer giant Guinness just launched a new campaign this holiday season that invites people to enjoy a perfect pint at home.
Made together with creative agency AMV BBDO, the "Dancing Can" highlights the Guinness Nitrosurge device that breaks down the nitrogen in your beer to deliver a smooth pour with every pint.
The initiative, marked by a 30-second spot, serves as an ode to the brand's popular "Dancing Man" commercial that first aired in 1994.
The new version of the advert sees the brand's beer can, equipped with a Guinness Nitrosurge, dancing to the beat of artist Perez Prado's "Guaglione" — the same song used in the original spot.
"Whether it’s a person or a can, 30 years later, the excitement and joy of watching the liquid settle into the perfect pint of Guinness still rings true. The unique charm and craft of stop-frame animation was the answer to bring this emotion to life," shared AMV BBDO's Anzhela Hayrabedyan and Luca Grosso.
Overall, Guinness' latest brand marketing strategy isn't just a blast of nostalgia, it also reminds viewers that a perfect pint is just a pour away with the right device.
Meet the Dancing Can
Directed by Johnny Kelly and produced by Nexus Studios, the 30-second stop motion-animated spot sees a Nitrosurge tool attaching itself to a can of Guinness beer.
Suddenly, the can starts to dance to "Guaglione" and begins pouring the famous beer onto a glass.
The can then inspects the glass before breaking into another dance number: bouncing in and out of the screen, spinning on its nozzle, and doing the worm on the kitchen table.
"Perfect pours are yours," the screen writes as the commercial ends.
Previously, AMV BBDO and Currys launched a hilarious campaign talking to "die-hard online shoppers."
