Apple Touts iPhone 16 Pro's Slow Motion Features in New Cinematic Spot

Apple Touts iPhone 16 Pro's Slow Motion Features in New Cinematic Spot

Apple has just released a new short film promoting the latest iteration of the iPhone.

Helmed by "Severance" co-director Aoife McArdle, the cinematic advert touts the iPhone 16 Pro's slow-motion video capture feature, which includes cinematic 4K 120fps, Dolby Vision, and the ability to adjust playback speed via the Photos app after a video has been recorded. 

The short film also showcases a new half-speed feature that gives footage a dreamy effect, as well as a fifth-speed feature that corresponds to 24fps.

Overall, it serves as an homage to tropes commonly used in classic films, with wide and close-up shots that showcase the shooting prowess of the new iPhone 16 Pro. 

"Got to make this piece for Apple with a deadly crew. Thank you," McArdle wrote in an Instagram post.

Apple's new short film rolls out across broadcast, social media, and online platforms. 

Beyond the promotion of its latest iPhone model, the tech giant hopes to empower and inspire users of the iPhone 16 Pro to tell their unique visual stories.  

Apple continues to push boundaries, not only in the realm of technology but also in the world of marketing with its latest short film. 

It is a testament to effective brand storytelling and how Apple can both captivate and emotionally engage with its audience through the medium.

Pure Cinema

Set to Danielle Ponder's song "Roll the Credits," the one-minute iPhone 16 Pro commercial opens with a lone sparrow flying in the rain.

Against a dark but spotlit backdrop, a man tries to get in his car just before all his belongings get swayed by the wind and start to float in the air. 

In the following scene, an astronaut witnesses the beauty of a solar eclipse, before dodging an arrow.

A montage of random but equally stunning sequences ensues:

  • A woman on a horse jumps and falls into a triangular portal.
  • A taxi caught on fire tips over in the middle of the road in slow motion.
  • A clown comes out of the burning cab to do a little dance.

The spot then culminates in an epic shot of the man, the astronaut, the woman, and the clown suspended mid-air, as it is revealed that everything has been shot on the iPhone 16 Pro. 

"Hollywood in your pocket," the screen writes, as the ad concludes. 

Previously, Apple also launched a series of spots to promote its latest iPhone starring "Last of Us" actor Bella Ramsey.
