Amazon marked the holiday shopping season with a new Black Friday ad featuring actor Adam Driver, who brings a series of funny and heartfelt 5-star product reviews to life in a unique one-man show.
The campaign, part of Amazon’s ‘Joy is Shared’ initiative, invites shoppers to enjoy the humor and authenticity of real customer feedback.
Amazon’s in-house creative agency crafted the campaign based on a survey revealing that 79% of customers often read reviews before making a purchase.

Jo Shoesmith, Amazon’s global chief creative officer, emphasized how customer reviews have become a form of storytelling, with some of the most compelling narratives coming from Amazon’s shoppers:
“We’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on these reviews and have an actor of Adam’s caliber to bring them to life.”
This campaign highlights a growing trend of consumer-generated content, showing how reviews influence purchasing decisions in the digital age.
With over one billion reviews on Amazon, the platform has become a trusted resource for shoppers seeking product insights.
Amazon’s "5-Star Theatre" will take center stage during Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday, supporting the retailer’s broader push to inspire holiday shoppers to share in the joy of giving.
This ad is an example of how creative agencies can transform customer-generated content into engaging, memorable campaigns.
Driving Home the Humor with Adam Driver
Amazon’s latest Black Friday spot opens with Adam Driver walking onto a stage, sitting on a solitary sofa.
As the lights brighten, visual copy appears overhead, reading “Real Amazon Customer Reviews.”
Driver then proceeds to narrate one of Amazon’s most popular reviews, written by a customer known as “Mrs. T.”
She humorously recounts the everyday struggles with her husband, particularly after a long day caring for her children.
The least he could do, she says, is slice the bananas.
As Driver continues with the review, he highlights how the banana slicer has, quite humorously, revitalized their marriage.
The commercial wraps up with the review flashing on screen, as Driver rises, bows, and walks off stage.
This isn't the first time Driver and Amazon have teamed up. He has also featured in several of Amazon's other holiday campaigns, including its Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals and its Virtual Online Shop.
