Amazon Grocery is using actress Kathryn Hahn to make that proposition feel closer to everyday family life.

It launched a new campaign focused on the constant demands that can push a household grocery bill higher.

The initiative follows the actress' previous back-to-school effort with Amazon, promoting shopping with the platform for greater deals.

The campaign comes as grocery prices remain a persistent pressure for consumers.

U.S. food-at-home prices were 2.3% higher in 2025 than in 2024, according to the USDA Economic Research Service.

Meanwhile, food-at-home prices were another 2.7% higher year over year in July 2026.

This gives Amazon Grocery a practical consumer tension to work with, because families still need to buy the same essentials, even as the cost of doing so keeps changing.

"Amazon Grocery is the everyday destination for busy families who want to spend less," said Jo Shoesmith, VP and Amazon global chief brand officer.

"With Kathryn Hahn, we're bringing humour and relatability to the grocery experience - she captures those real, everyday moments that families know all too well."

The strategy puts personality around a value proposition that could otherwise sound interchangeable with every other grocery retailer promising low prices.

It also gives the campaign room to develop brand stories around the small negotiations happening inside a household.

Because after all, grocery shopping is more than just a transaction.

Making the Weekly Shop Easier

In the hero spot, Hahn plays a mother navigating a series of competing needs at home.

Her challenges stem from her husband’s latest health kick to a perpetually hungry teenager.

Amazon Grocery becomes the solution for keeping those demands manageable while helping the family spend less.

The service’s proposition is beyond price alone.

The campaign points to more than 1,000 private-label products, most priced under $5, alongside free Same-Day Delivery on orders over $25 for Prime members.

Amazon previously said its Same-Day Delivery service allows customers to combine fresh groceries with other Amazon purchases, making the grocery trip part of an entire shopping ecosystem.

This means the campaign is selling two forms of value at once: the money saved on individual products, and the time saved by having those products delivered.

Using Value Messaging to Your Advantage

The private-label range was first introduced as a unified Amazon Grocery brand in 2025.

This brings together products from Amazon Fresh and Happy Belly while growing the selection across staples, produce, meat, and seafood.

The latest campaign shows how a value message can become more distinctive when the ad demonstrates the situations that make the value matter:

  • Make savings situational: Showing why a household needs to save gives a price claim a problem to solve.
  • Use talent as a shortcut to relatability: Hahn’s comedic persona helps Amazon communicate everyday family pressure without requiring a complicated premise.
  • Sell both the system and the shelf price: Connecting affordable products with delivery and broader Amazon purchasing makes convenience part of the value proposition.

Amazon Grocery is establishing itself as infrastructure for the weekly household routine, where price and delivery work together to reduce some of the friction around feeding a family.

Our Take: Can Family Friction Sell Groceries?

A cart full of vegetables is rarely the interesting part of grocery advertising.

The good material is in the kitchen afterward, when somebody suddenly wants more protein, somebody has sworn off carbs, and the teenager appears like a wolf at the refrigerator.

Amazon Grocery understands that the real theater is there, and Kathryn Hahn is a particularly useful guide through it.

For us, the opportunity is what happens if Amazon keeps mining these domestic tensions over time and makes them recurring territory for the brand.

That could give a grocery business a point of view on the messy business of keeping a household fed, and to us, that's something increasingly rare for today's grocery ads.
