Narrated by David Beckham, it kicks off with soundbites from news clips and reports that reinforce the pressure the three footballers experience, given their star status.
Doubling down on the ad's core theme, Queen's "Under Pressure" scores the commercial, as the athletes overcome their pressures by deducing them to only noise, expectations, and opinions.
Gianluigi Donnarumma, Giovanni Reyna, Ousmane Dembélé, and Pedri also make appearances throughout, exemplifying their skill through a sequence of fast-action scenes.
"It's only his weak foot. He's only making history, and repeating it. It's only the next big thing," Beckham narrates, as a montage of plays from Messi and his co-stars delight viewers.
The spot closes with the reveal of Beckham, as he says "It's only the beginning."
Disarming Pressures
The 90-second film builds on the world's anticipation for the upcoming EURO 2024 and Copá America, hoping to help the brand's biggest athletes disarm the negative pressure they experience in the sport.
According to the sports giant's research, players are more likely to miss a penalty when playing for their nation compared to when they play for their football club.
Dr Niklas Häusler, co-founder of neuro11 which conducted the study, expounded more on the findings:
"Our recent testing with a selection of Adidas athletes revealed when the player has the right management techniques, they were up to 40% more effective at harnessing pressure during high-stake moments. By channeling their focus to implement their set routines, they can realize their biggest hopes his summer."
The "Football Anthem Film" aims to send well wishes to footballers, as if to say, "You Got This."
Speaking on the campaign, Adidas VP of Global Brand Comms Florian Alt said the spot hopes to remind us that pressure can be felt at any level, and the company's goal remains to encourage players of all skill levels to reconnect with what sparked their love for football.
"We hope our rallying cry 'You Got This’ invites athletes of all levels to overcome the pressure and achieve their personal possibilities in sport," he claimed in his statement.
